Abraham Lincoln’s Dilemma: Choosing the Better Option

It’s easy to be cynical about the voting public’s ability to make the right choices. There are certainly plenty of examples where the majority has been wrong. But what are the alternatives? If we can’t have patient confidence in the people, is there a better or equal hope to rest our convictions upon? Where is the historical evidence for this? If we cannot believe in the slow evolution of public thinking to bring about peaceful change through the ballot box, how could we possibly conclude that a minority forcing their ideas of “justice” on the majority at gunpoint will work out better?
To borrow from the meme language of today: The red pill doesn’t lead to enlightenment; it’s an act of denial. Staying in Wonderland means ignoring reality. The only thing down the rabbit hole is dirt. Choose wisely.
